Vol. 285 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Restoration of Pearse's Home.

18.

asked the Minister for Finance if tenders have been received and accepted for the restoration of Pádraic Pearse's old home at St. Enda's, Dublin; and when work is likely to commence on this project.

Tenders for stage two of the restoration work at St. Enda's, which will include work to the interior of the main house, have been invited and are due on 11th November, 1975. It is too early yet to say when work will commence.

I take it that the roofing has been completed? I think that had to be done before the interior work could be undertaken.

It is too early yet to say when that work will commence. Some time ago I visited this home and I am equally as concerned as the Deputy is. I am sure numerous other people are also interested.

The recreational areas are open and people are anxious to go in and look at the house. They could not do that while the roofing work was going on because it was dangerous.

As I said, stage two of the restoration work will include work to the interior of the main house.

That probably means the roof has been completed.
