Vol. 286 No. 11

Industrial Relations Bill, 1975: First Stage.

Leave granted to introduce a Bill entitled an Act to amend and extend the Industrial Relations Acts, 1946 and 1969, and to provide for other matters connected with the aforesaid matters.
—(Minister for Local Government.)

When is it expected this Bill will be taken?

The first day after the resumption.

We have a great many Bills lying around in both this House and in the Seanad. Are they going to be left there?

The Deputy has not been long enough in this House to remember Bills that were on the Order Paper for years.

Do not be getting touchy now.

What about the Employment of Young Persons Bill which has been lying in the Seanad since last summer?

That Bill, as the Deputy knows, is before the Seanad at the present time.

In view of the fact that the Minister for Local Government has indicated to us that the Bill will be taken on the first sitting day after the recess, when is it likely the Bill will be circulated?

It will be circulated during the recess—probably the first week in January.
