Vol. 287 No. 1

Written Answers. - Security Firms Registration.

328.

asked the Minister for Justice if he proposes to implement the recommendation of the National Prices Commission that legislation be introduced under which security firms would be required to register with the Garda and under which any complaints from the public or customers could be investigated; and if he has any proposals arising from the statement by the commission that no legislation exists for the checking of credentials of security firms.

In reply to Question No. 4 on 4th December, 1974, I indicated that I had come to no definite decision in regard to the introduction of legislation in this area and that, even if I were satisfied that legislation was desirable and would be useful, I would not be in a position to undertake it for some time. That remains the position as far as I am concerned.
