Vol. 287 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Longford Industries.

20.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he has any proposals for the setting up of industries at (a) Drumlish (b) Granard and (c) Edgeworthstown, County Longford.

I have been informed by the Industrial Development Authority that they have no proposals under negotiation at present for the setting up of industrial projects at Drumlish, Granard or Edgeworthstown.

The authority have assured me that they are ready to support, with their normal range of incentives, any suitable projects proposed for these areas by local or incoming industrialists.

I understand from the authority that an industry which set up in Granard in 1974 is continuing to expand and will be increasing its employment by about 90 within the next two years or so. In Edgeworthstown, an industrial site owned by the local authority is being promoted by the IDA with a view to establishing an industry there.
