Vol. 287 No. 9

Written Answers. - General Franco Funeral.

84.

asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs why the Government was not represented by a Minister at the funeral of General Franco.

The State was represented at the funeral services of the late General Franco by the Ambassador of Ireland to Spain, Mr. C. V. Whelan, who was accredited for the occasion as Ambassador on Special Mission. The Government decided that it was appropriate that Ireland should be represented in this way.
