Vol. 288 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Coast Erosion Projects.

23.

asked the Minister for Finance the number of projects which he has sanctioned in the past two years for the combating of erosion around the coasts; and the number of projects now being considered.

In the period mentioned the Minister for Finance sanctioned a supplemental State grant for a scheme of coast protection at Enniscrone, County Sligo. In all, 58 proposals for coast protection schemes are at various stages of consideration by the Commissioners of Public Works under the Coast Protection Act, 1963.

Are there any proposals for part of Donegal and part of North County Dublin?

Yes. They were recently submitted.

When will a decision be made in respect of them?

I would say in years to come. For Deputy Moore's information I could give all the proposals that I have got if he wishes to see them. I do not want to delay the House unduly in calling them out.

Give us money instead of a list.

There are 12 for Donegal, sometime or another; for Cork, eight; Dublin, eight; Louth, two; Kerry, 18; Mayo, one; Sligo, six; Waterford, one; Wexford, five; Wicklow, five—total 66. The Dublin proposals were submitted on 10th June, 1975.

When will a decision be made in respect of them?

I would be less than honest if I gave a time. You are away back on the list.

May I ask when the Kerry proposals were submitted?

They were a while too. I have not got the information here. I will give them to the Deputy.
