Vol. 288 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Foreign Goods Purchases.

4.

andMr. Molloy asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce the total value of foreign manufactured goods purchased in 1975 through Irish agents by his Department and any State-sponsored bodies under his control, excluding goods not manufactured in Ireland.

It is not possible to furnish precise information in reply to the question as detailed records are not kept of the origin and price of all goods purchased. However, from the information it was possible to extract, such purchases by my Department were negligible while, in the case of State-sponsored bodies under the aegis of my Department, it has been possible to identify purchases of the kind specified of the order of £2,300 in 1975.

What is the meaning of the word "negligible"? This word has been used in answering every question.

Next to nothing.

We will have nothing next year.
