I receive submissions from, and have discussions with Bord Fáilte on a continuing basis on all aspects of tourism.
I am sure the Deputy will appreciate that in dealings with all the State-sponsored bodies associated with my Department there is a constant flow, back and forth, of discussion, correspondence and reportage. These exchanges would not be of any value unless they were quite free and uninhibited and those essential qualities can be assured only on the basis that the content of the exchanges is not normally made public. The only exception which is usual but not, indeed, inevitable, occurs where these activities lead to the announcement of policy decisions either by myself or the body concerned and even then details of the prior debate would not usually be released.
