Vol. 289 No. 1

Written Answers. - Telephone Service.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when the telephone service in Oldcastle Post Office, County Meath, and surrounding areas will be made automatic.

It is hoped that subject to acquisition of a suitable site conversion to automatic working of telephones in the areas served by the present manual exchange in Oldcastle will take place in 1979.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the proposals, if any, he has for the extension of automatic telephone facilities in County Clare for 1976; and if he will give details.

The automatic exchanges at Shannon Airport, Broadford, Corofin, Quin and Tulla will be extended in 1976.

The acquisition of sites and the erection of exchange buildings in preparation for the conversion of the larger manual exchanges in certain areas in County Clare are proceeding but the arrangements are not sufficiently advanced to enable any conversion to be effected in the current year.
