asked the Minister for Labour the number of workers made redundant in (a) the textile industry (b) the footwear industry (c) the car assembly industry (d) the building industry and (e) the food processing industry in the period 1st January, 1974 to date; and the number of these workers that have been retrained and re-employed as a result of retraining.

The information sought at (a) to (e) is as follows:

The number of unemployed and redundant workers in the categories mentioned included in AnCO training programmes in 1975 was 917, and of these 333 have been placed in employment through the National Manpower Service with the co-operation of AnCO.

In addition, it is known that a substantial number have secured employment other than through official agencies.
