Vol. 289 No. 9

Written Answers. - Ennis Second-Level Students.

39.

andMr. Daly asked the Minister for Education if he is aware of the serious situation regarding the lack of adequate accommodation for second-level students in the Ennis area, County Clare for the year commencing September, 1976; and the steps he is taking to remedy the position.

Officers of my Department have recently discussed the situation at a local meeting with the school and planning authorities for the area. The position is that while these schools have accommodation problems, one school has still got surplus accommodation. Pupils who leave the primary schools in the area this year should not have difficulty in proceeding to secondary education. For the future, I can say that the provision of additional accommodation is at the building plan stage.
