Vol. 291 No. 4

Written Answers. - County Kerry Schools.

106.

asked the Minister for Education the present position regarding a new central school for Banaduff in the parish of Glenflesk, County Kerry; if he is aware of the bad condition of Raheen and Banaduff schools in the same parish; and the proposals before his Department to rectify the situation.

A suitable site has not yet been obtained for the proposed new central school at Banaduff. As soon as such a site is available the necessary arrangements for the planning and erection of the new school will be undertaken by the Commissioners of Public Works in consultation with my Department. I am not aware of any complaints to the Department about the accommodation in Raheen and Banaduff schools.

107.

asked the Minister for Education if he is aware of the bad condition of Annabla national school in the parish of Kilcummin near Killarney, County Kerry; and if he will state the proposals, if any, before his Department for its replacement.

As I said in reply to a parliamentary question from the Deputy last December my information is that Annabla national school, although an old building, is in a sound and reasonably comfortable condition. The replacement of the school is being considered by my Department in conjunction with the question of improving the organisation of the primary education facilities in the parish.
