Vol. 291 No. 13

Written Answers. - Group Certificates.

104.

asked the Minister for Education if he intends to issue group certificates to all candidates sitting for the group certificate examinations in 1976 and subsequent years; and, if not, if he will state why this practice applies only to the intermediate and leaving certificates.

The day group certificate covering a course which has a high practical work content, was devised for school leavers before intermediate certificate stage to assist them in entering employment. It is already divided into five separate vocationally orientated groups and it is felt that a certificate covering anything less than a recognised group of subjects would be of little benefit to a pupil.

Pupils however on application, may, obtain statements showing their results in individual subjects.
