Vol. 291 No. 13

Written Answers. - Kilmallock Schools.

106.

asked the Minister for Education the up-to-date position with regard to the provision of extensions to the two primary schools in Kilmallock, County Limerick; the total cost of the work involved; the proportion of the cost to be borne by the local community; and when the work will commence.

My Department will shortly sanction a grant towards the cost, estimated at £69,000, of an extension and up-dating scheme at Kilmallock boys' school. A grant in respect of a similar scheme at the girls' school will be sanctioned when the architect's plans have been approved and an estimate of cost is furnished by the Commissioners of Public Works.

It is not the practice of my Department to divulge the details of financial arrangements made with the representatives of the trustees in connection with the erection, extension or improvement of national schools.

I am not in a position to say at this stage when work on the projects will commence.
