Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

4.

asked the Minister for Local Government the present position regarding stage II of the mid-Kerry water supply scheme which includes a reservoir at Barleymount near Killarney.

Contract documents for this scheme are under consideration in my Department. I am not as yet in a position to indicate when a decision on it can be given.

Do the contract documents include plans for stage II of the mid-Kerry water supply scheme and also for the reservoir at Barleymount?

The preliminary proposals of the mid-Kerry scheme were approved at stage II. The scheme would involve an extension of 4,440 million gallons, a booster and a pumphouse as well as a 16,000 million gallon reservoir at Barleymount. The contract documents were received in the Department on 4th December, 1975. The scheme is now No. 1 on the list of priorities for Kerry and when it has been cleared it will be the first of the schemes for that area to be undertaken.

asked the Minister for Local Government when the Rosscahill group water scheme, County Galway was formed; and the reasons for the delay in starting work on this project.

The Rosscahill group scheme was formed in 1971 with Lough Buffy as the proposed source. Progress with this scheme depends on the development of the source and the laying of a section of trunk main by Galway County Council. A scheme for these works was submitted by the council to my Department in March last and is under consideration. I am not at present in a position to say when a decision will issue to the local authority in the matter.

asked the Minister for Local Government the present position regarding the proposed group water scheme for Inis Meáin, County Galway.

A new proposal for a group water scheme on the island of Inis Meáin was received in my Department on 17th June, 1976. Survey sheets were given to the promoter for completion by intending participants in order that the total daily water requirements may be assessed and the proposal be investigated.

7.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will sanction the proposals submitted to him by Kerry County Council for an extension of the Aughascashla water scheme to Duagh, Camp, Tralee, County Kerry.

Kerry County Council's proposals for an extension of the Aughacashla water supply scheme which would serve Duagh were received in my Department on the 17th May last.

Completion of the examination of the proposals must await technical information requested from the Country Council on the 1st June, 1976.

8.

Tenders for the Milford sewerage scheme which will, inter alia, serve Kilmacrenan Road are under consideration in my Department. I am not as yet in a position to indicate when a decision will issue thereon.
