Vol. 291 No. 15

Written Answers. - Telephone Service.

48.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the date an application was made for a telephone by a person (name supplied) in Galway; and the reason for the delay in installing it.

The application in question was made on 20th August, 1975. It has not been practicable to attend to it because of a shortage of underground cable in the area.

It is expected that service will be provided during the last quarter of this year.

49.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the total number of applications for telephone service in County Kerry; the average period; and how soon it is hoped that connections will be made.

Approximately 1,000. The average waiting period is about 12 months. It is hoped to attend to about 450 of the waiting applications by the end of the year and most of the balance next year.
