Vol. 291 No. 15

Written Answers. - RTE Television Signal.

50.

andMr. McEllistrim asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the proposals RTE have for the necessary improvement of the RTE television signal in the Feale Valley area of Counties Limerick and Kerry.

RTE are aware that reception in the Feale Valley is less than satisfactory. As an interim measure they plan to provide a small transposer within about 12 months to serve the Listowel area which is the most densely populated portion of that valley.

Existing TV transmitters are being renewed and an extra transmitter has been ordered for installation in the south central part of the county, probably in County Tipperary. These steps should result in improved coverage in many areas where reception is less than satisfactory at present. If the Feale Valley does not benefit to the required extent, RTE plan to provide a transposer of suitable power to improve reception in that area.
