Vol. 293 No. 3

Written Answers. - Local Authority Housing.

92.

asked the Minister for Local Government the number of families on the waiting list for local authority housing in June, 1975, and in June, 1976.

Information is not available in my Department in the form requested by the Deputy. I would draw the Deputy's attention to my replies to Questions No. 29 of 27th January, 1976, and No. 16 of 2nd March, 1976, giving details of the returns by housing authorities of applications made to them for rehousing as at 30th September, 1975.

asked the Minister for Local Government the number of families on the waiting list for local authority housing in Dundalk.

I understand from Dundalk Urban District Council that they have received a total of 403 applications for rehousing, but that it is not their practice to process housing applications when received. Approval of individual applications is not given until houses are being allocated. Of a total of 464 applications which they had on hands at 10th February last, 315 were from families of three persons or less.

94.

asked the Minister for Local Government the number of families on the waiting list for local authority houses in Drogheda.

I understand from Drogheda Corporation that 373 unprocessed applications for rehousing are with the medical officer for examination and report, as compared with 342 at 30th September, 1975, of which 238 were from families of three persons or less. Information is not available about the number of applicants who will be recommended for rehousing. Approval to individual applications is given only when houses are being allocated.

95.

asked the Minister for Local Government the number of houses completed by the local authority in Dundalk to date in 1976; the number under construction; and the number at the planning stage.

According to the latest progress report submitted to me by Dundalk Urban District Council, 144 houses were completed in the period 1st January, 1976, to the 30th September, 1976. There are no dwellings under construction, but a contract is being placed for a further 75 houses. Contract documents have been prepared for 57 houses while an action plan has been prepared which provides for a further 1,100 local authority dwellings.

asked the Minister for Local Government the number of houses completed by the local authority in Drogheda to date in 1976; the number under construction; and the number at the tender stage.

According to progress reports submitted by Drogheda Corporation 16 houses were completed by them in the period 1st January, 1976, to 30th September, 1976. The output in that period was affected by a prolonged strike on the Ballsgrove building site. At 30th September, work was in progress on 187 houses. Contract documents have been prepared for 87 more houses at Ballsgrove. A layout plan is being submitted to the council by the National Building Agency for 253 dwellings at Moneymore, of which it is expected that about 65 houses will be built as a first stage.
