Vol. 293 No. 10

Written Answers. - County Dublin Garda Station.

83.

asked the Minister for Justice the present position regarding the provision of a Garda station in Portmarnock, County Dublin; and the plans he has for the provision of proper protection for the people in the area.

A decision on the question of providing a new station in the Portmarnock area has not been taken pending receipt of final recommendations from management consultants about the deployment of the Garda Síochána. These recommendations are expected in the near future.

Having regard to overall demands on Garda services, the commissioner does not propose for the present to increase the strength of Coolock or Malahide stations, which serve the Portmarnock area, but the situation will be kept under review.
