Vol. 295 No. 4

National Agricultural Advisory, Education and Research Authority Bill, 1976: First Stage.

Leave granted to introduce a Bill entitled an Act to make further and better provision for Agricultural advice, education, training and research and for that purpose to establish a body to be known as the National Agricultural Advisory, Education and Research Authority and to define its powers and duties and to provide for other matters connected with the matters aforesaid.—Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries.

Acting Chairman

When is it proposed to take the Second Stage.

During the second week after the recess.

May I ask when will the Bill be circulated?

During the recess.

There is a vagueness about "during the recess". This often means that the Bill is circulated, perhaps, a day or two before the Dáil resumes. I hope when it is being arranged that there will be reasonable time between the circulation of the Bill and the ordering of it for discussion in the House.

Perhaps the Deputy was not within earshot when I said it was in the second week after the recess that we propose to take the Second Reading. It will be circulated during the recess and that will give ample time.

Second Stage ordered for the first day of the second week after the recess.
