Vol. 296 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Galway Lands.

14.

asked the Minister for Lands the reason for the long delay in making payments to a person (details supplied) for the sale of lands at Corrandulla, County Galway.

The land bonds representing the purchase money of these lands were put to credit as from 3rd June, 1975, the date of possession, and bear interest from that date.

The solicitor having carriage had been asked in May, 1975, to lodge title documents and these were received by the Land Commission examiner on 19th November, 1975. The examiner's rulings on title were issued to the solicitor on the 28th November, 1975, but were not discharged until 11th November, 1976.

The final step is for the solicitor to attend before the examiner for the purpose of vouching and allocation. He was requested on 26th November, 1976, to take out the necessary appointment but has not yet done so.

15.

asked the Minister for Lands the reason for the delay in acquiring an estate (name supplied) in County Galway.

This property first came to the notice of the Land Commission in April, 1976, and compulsory acquisition proceedings were instituted in November, 1976. These proceedings have now reached the stage where the question of price remains to be settled.

Question No. 16 postponed.
