Vol. 296 No. 6

Written Answers. - Farm Modernisation Grant.

44.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries why a farm modernisation scheme grant of over £1,300 for a slurry tank, cattle cubicles and a loose cattle house has not yet been paid to a person (details supplied) in County Laois.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries the cause of the delay in paying grants under the farm modernisation scheme in County Kerry; and the longest time it took during 1976 to pay a grant from the date the work was passed for payment.

The volume of work being undertaken by farmers under the farm modernisation scheme has been exceptionally high in all areas of the country throughout the past year. The interval involved in completing payment of grants in any county is clearly dependent on the amount of work which the field services of my Department have on hands at any given time. I am satisfied that there has been no undue delay in the payment of grants under the scheme in County Kerry.
