Vol. 296 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Wexford Health Clinic.

3.

asked the Minister for Health if the South Eastern Health Board is yet in a position to provide the urgently needed new health clinic in New Ross, County Wexford.

The South Eastern Health Board have recently submitted proposals to my Department regarding the provision of a new health clinic in New Ross. I have approved of this projected and I have requested the health board to appoint an architect so that the planning of the scheme may proceed.

I take it that building will start this year? It is very urgent.

I appreciate that, but the Deputy also will appreciate that there was a fairly long wrangle as to where the site should be. It has eventually been decided to have it in the grounds of the district hospital.

I am aware of that, not with everybody's approval but——

It would not go ahead as quickly as the hospital mentioned in the previous question because this would be under capital rather than current as for the other one to be opened.
