Vol. 297 No. 4

Written Answers. - County Kildare Hospital Operation.

38.

asked the Minister for Health why a person in County Kildare (details supplied) has been so long waiting for an operation and consequently has been out of work through illness since July, 1975.

It is a matter for the Eastern Health Board and the hospital concerned to arrange for hospital treatment of individual patients. In view however of the implication in the question that excessive delays are occuring in the provision of surgical treatment, I made inquiries in the case. I have ascertained that a decision to operate was not made until August, 1976, that the operation was not regarded as medically urgent and has since been carried out.
