Vol. 298 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Foynes Harbour Development.

11.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power the applications for assistance for projects for the development of port facilities at Foynes Harbour, County Limerick, that are before his Department; when they were received; and the amount of money that is available for them for 1977.

Cavan): In September, 1975, the Foynes Harbour Trustees submitted to my Department a preliminary report prepared by their consulting engineers on the provision of improved harbour facilities at Foynes. The proposed works were then estimated to cost £1,480,000.

Following initial consideration by my Department and discussion with the harbour trustees, it was agreed that the trustees would update and clarify certain aspects associated with the proposed developments. I am awaiting the further observations of the trustees on these points.

No decisions have yet been taken as to how a scheme of harbour works at Foynes, if approved, might be financed.
