Vol. 298 No. 4

Written Answers. - Irish Citizens' Safety.

141.

asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if he is aware of disquiet about the safety of Irish citizens in Ethiopa; and if he will indicate the measures which can be taken, if necessary, to ensure their safety.

I am not aware of immediate anxiety in connection with the safety of any Irish citizens still remaining in Ethiopia. It is, of course, the position that, in the event it should become necessary, every possible assistance including evacuation would be provided for Irish citizens in Ethiopia through the arrangements we have for the protection of our consular interests in that country.
