asked the Minister for Local Government the number of planning appeals that were dealt with by his Department in 1976; and the percentage granted.

A total of 3,864 planning appeals was disposed of in 1976. Since a decision may on appeal be varied by the imposition or revision of conditions the Department's records do not show the percentage of appeals "granted". An analysis of formal decisions on appeals is contained in the following statement:

NOTE: The above figures relate to appeals formally decided and exclude 940 appeals otherwise disposed of (withdrawn, invalid, etc.). The total of Columns 1, 5 and 8 amounts to 1,413 which is 48.3% of 2,924.
