Vol. 298 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Land Usage.

10.

andMr. C. Murphy asked the Minister for Agriculture if, in deciding the future usage of the lands attached to Barrettstown Castle, County Kildare, and Russborough House, County Wicklow, he will ensure that maximum employment is given and that the future of smallholders in the area will be protected.

The lands attached to Barrettstown Castle, County Kildare, have not yet come under the control of the State and no decision has as yet been made as to their future use. The Deputies' representations on behalf of the workers and the smallholders in the area will be borne in mind.

The Land Commission have had an inspection carried out of some 100 acres of the lands of Glenmore, County Kildare, which is part of the Russborough property. The report on the inspection is at present under consideration and until a decision is made thereon it is not possible to indicate what action, if any, the Land Commission will take in the matter.

Will the Minister state when the report will be circulated? I am referring to the report regarding the lands attached to Russborough House.

When a decision is made it will be included in the Official Report.
