asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the estimated cost of a television licence if drink advertisements were discontinued; the number of television licences; and the revenue from drink advertisements.

Revenue from drink advertisements on television is at present equivalent to approximately 75 pence per licence.

The number of television licences current at the end of February, 1977, was 567,183.

RTE have advised that in the year ended 30th September, 1976, revenue from drink advertisements was £415,433.
