Vol. 298 No. 7

Written Answers. - Electricity Allowance.

105.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare when a decision will be reached regarding the application for free electricity allowance by a person (name supplied) in County Meath which has been approved by the ESB and has been with his Department since last month.

An application for a free electricity allowance was received from the person concerned on 28th February last but she failed to furnish her widows pension number, as required, on the application form. This caused some delay which was aggravated as a result of the greatly increased volume of free electricity allowance applications arising from the budget improvements announced in January last. However, the granting of a free electricity allowance, effective from the March/April, 1977, billing period, was authorised in this case on 24 March, 1977, and the ESB were immediately informed accordingly.
