Vol. 298 No. 7

Written Answers. - University Fees.

138.

asked the Minister for Education if University College, Dublin, made a profit of £234,000 last year; and, if so, the reason for the increase of 16 per cent in students' fees.

The audited accounts of University College, Dublin, for the year ended 30th September, 1976, showed an excess of income over expenditure of £234,154. The Higher Education Authority took this excess into account when deciding upon the financial allocation to be made to the college for 1977. The level of university fees is a matter for the university authorities concerned.
