Vol. 298 No. 7

Written Answers. - UCD Facilities.

139.

asked the Minister for Education if he considers that the facilities at University College, Dublin, are deteriorating in view of (a) the ratio of four students to every seat in the library and (b) the rising cost in the restaurant; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The ratio of library and reading room seats to students in UCD in the current year is 1:2.93. This ratio compares favourably with that in other Irish university institutions. Increases in restaurant prices in UCD since 1973 have been less than price increases in public restaurants and less than the increases in the consumer price index food.
