Vol. 298 No. 8

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take No. 11 and No. 12 (resumed). Private Members' Business will be taken from 7 p.m. to 8.30 p.m., No. 26 (resumed).

On the Order of Business, having regard to the fact that the Taoiseach told me 11 weeks ago that we could expect the Finance Bill in about six weeks, could I inquire as to when we may now expect it?

Next week.

Thank you.

May I ask the Taoiseach if, in view of the serious consequences of the threatened building workers' strike, he will give time to the House to have the matter debated?

If the Deputy wants to put down a motion he is free to do so. There is a Private Members' Business motion on the Order Paper at the moment.

Does the Taoiseach realise that the date has been set for the serving of such a notice and, with 40,000 workers in the industry in the position it is in at present, does he realise that the consequences of such a strike could be catastrophic for the country?

At present there is a motion before the Dáil and, if the Deputy wants to speak on it, he is free to do so.

That does not cover the dispute situation.
