Following is a statement of the gross number of applications for local authority housing on hands at the latest date for which statistics are available—generally 30th September, 1976. The figures include all applications, including applications which had not been processed by the authorities. They do not, therefore, provide an accurate guide to the extent, location or relative urgency of housing needs.
