asked the Minister for Agriculture if it is proposed to allocate bog or turbary rights to householders anxious to provide their own fuel and who cannot afford to purchase it.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Turbary Rights.
11.
Where there is a demand for turbary in a particular locality the Land Commission are prepared to allocate, on a permanent or letting basis, any developed bog land in their possession in that locality, preference being given to applicants from the rural community.
The amount of bog available to the Land Commission in most counties is now very limited, and they would not be in a position to meet any large-scale demand for turbary especially from town dwellers.
