Vol. 299 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Kildare Jobs.

15.

asked the Minister for Health the number of extra jobs that have been created in the Kildare area of the Eastern Health Board under the special programme; and the type and location of these posts.

The information requested by the Deputy is given in a tabular statement which with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I will have circulated with the Official Report.

Hospitaller Order of St. John of God

A total number of 54 posts have been approved for Homes for Mentally Handicapped run by this Order and a number of these will be allocated by the Order to St. Raphael's, Celbridge.

Is the Minister aware of the grave discontent among the staff of the community care team and others in Kildare and, also, that the staff employed in Kildare county in this field have been very thin on the ground, very much stretched and not at all in keeping percentage wise with the numbers available in Dublin city and other places?

Perhaps that is so, but when the Deputy reads the list of additional jobs for Kildare he will see that quite a number of those are in the field of community care.
