Written Answers. - Superannuation Scheme Proposals.

63.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power the terms of the latest proposals for amendments in the Dublin Port and Docks Board superannuation scheme awaiting sanction or sanctioned since 17th February, 1977.

, Cavan): Dublin Port and Docks Board have two superannuation schemes, one for officers, the other for employees grade “A”. The proposed amendments to the officers' scheme are to provide that temporary service with the board, or with a local authority, or unestablished service in the civil service, will be reckoned in full for the purposes of the superannuation scheme. The board have not yet submitted an amending scheme for confirmation.

Amendments proposed to the employees' grade "A" scheme are to change the basis of calculation of pension and lump sum, to increase the benefit for death in service, to make provision for widows' and orphans' pensions, to reduce the minimum qualifying service for pensions, to remove the restriction regarding the refund of contributions, and to amend the provision regarding the reckoning of pensionable service. In view of the number of amendments, the board have indicated that they propose to submit a new scheme incorporating the proposed amendments. No amendments have been formally sanctioned since 17th February, 1977.
