Vol. 299 No. 6

Written Answers. - Redundancy Money.

53.

asked the Minister for Labour why redundancy money has not been paid to a person (name supplied) in County Offaly who was employed for over two years and was made redundant on 7th April, 1977.

When an employer declares an employee redundant the employee qualifies for redundancy payments if certain conditions specified in the Redundancy Payments Acts are fulfilled, in particular, conditions with respect to the insurability, age and length of service of the employee, and the termination of the employment. I am advised that in this case the employer disputes the employee's entitlement. It is open to an employee to appeal to the Redundancy Appeals Tribunal against an employer's decision in order to have the question of entitlement determined.
