Vol. 299 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Metalwork and Woodwork Classes.

4.

asked the Minister for Education the provision he is making for metalwork and woodwork classes in Moyle Park College, Clondalkin, County Dublin.

Following the receipt of an application from the manager of Moyle Park College, Clondalkin for the provision of additional accommodation at the school, my Department have accepted the recommendation of the Dublin Advisory Council for Post-Primary Schools at their meeting on 2nd March last that accommodation be provided for a total of 650 pupils. The question of the type of additional accommodation to be provided is presently being considered by my Department in consultation with the manager.

Does that mean that at the moment the provision of adequate accommodation for metalwork is under consideration?

Yes, it does.

Does it mean that there will be no longer the difficulty which existed up to now with regard to adequate provision in the local vocational school?

Yes, If it is agreed that the metalwork class should go to Moyle Park College that will take pressure off the present school.

Would the Minister agree, seeing that accommodation is not available at the local vocational school, to ask the committee to agree that provision should be made in Moyle Park College for this subject?

That would be a matter for the manager and my Department officials in consultation with one another to see what is the position.

The manager is very anxious to get it.
