Vol. 300 No. 3

National Board for Science and Technology Bill, 1976: Motion.

I move:

That, in pursuance of Standing Order No. 105 of the Standing Orders relative to Public Business, the National Board for Science and Technology Bill, 1976, which had reached Committee Stage prior to the dissolution of the Dáil on 25th May, 1977, be restored to the Order Paper.

It is proposed with that Bill to re-commence the Committee Stage, which, as I recall, had reached section 20, and it is proposed that the Committee Stage on this occasion would be taken in a Committee of the whole House.

Is it intended to go back to the beginning of the Bill again?

It is intended to go back to the beginning of the Committee Stage of the Bill. The reason is that there are a number of amendments which were agreed between myself and my predecessor. There were also a number of amendments which were agreed but which could not be made on last Committee Stage and which I think could appropriately be made on Committee Stage now. All these agreed amendments plus possibly some others will be put down as Government amendments on this occasion. I would hope that because there had been a very full discussion in the Special Committee it would be possible to dispose of the Committee Stage, which had almost finished, in a short time.

Question put and agreed to.
