Vol. 301 No. 1

Written Answers. - Animal Feeding Stuffs.

412.

asked the Minister for Agriculture the present regulations governing the display on bags and by other means of publication of the constituents and feeding value of compound animal feeding stuffs.

The Fertilisers, Feeding Stuffs and Mineral Mixtures Act, 1955, prescribes that a written statement containing prescribed particulars be given to the purchaser by the seller of compound feeding stuffs. The prescribed particulars which are set out in the Fertilisers, Feeding Stuffs and Mineral Mixtures Regulations, 1957, are: (i) the amount, if any, of oil; (ii) the minimum amount, if any, of crude protein, and (iii) the maximum amount, if any, of fibre.

In addition the European Communities (Feeding Stuffs) (Additives) Regulations, 1974, require that feeding stuffs containing approved additives must carry a label setting out appropriate details as to nature and inclusion level of the additives, expiry date of the guarantee of that level and also conditions of use.
