Vol. 301 No. 1

Written Answers. - Farm Development Service.

414.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will make additional staff available to the Farm Development Services office in Tullamore, County Offaly, in order to speed up the processing of applications under the farm modernisation scheme.

Because of the seasonal nature of several of the Department's schemes and the effect of this seasonality on the availability of staff, the staffing of all the Department's schemes, including the farm modernisation scheme, is kept under constant review. It is expected that, when inspections under the cattle headage scheme are completed before the end of the year, it will be possible to assign some additional staff to the Farm Development Service and the needs of the Tullamore office will then be borne in mind.
