asked the Minister for Labour the total number of redundancies since Ireland joined the EEC.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Redundancy Numbers.
4.
The number of redundancies notified by employers to my Department as qualified for redundancy payments during the period 1st January, 1973 to 30th June, 1977, was 56,770.
Is the Minister in a position to add to the answer, as implicit in the question, as to how many redundancies were caused by our joining the EEC?
I cannot give the Deputy that information.
Has the Minister any plans to amend the redundancy payments legislation or is he happy with its working?
That is a separate question, but I will do the Deputy the courtesy of telling him that the Redundancy Acts are under review.
