Vol. 301 No. 5

Written Answers. - Civil Service Pensioners.

457.

asked the Minister for the Public Service when he proposes to provide full parity of ex-gratia pensions for the widows and children of unestablished civil servants who died or retired prior to July, 1968: and the current annual cost of such an improvement.

There is no ex gratia pension scheme for the widows and children of unestablished civil servants and, accordingly, the question of providing pension parity does not arise. However, the provision of a contributory widows' and children's pension scheme in respect of serving unestablished State employees is at present the subject of negotiations at the Joint Industrial Council for State Industrial Employees. The grant of an ex-gratia scheme in respect of retired and deceased pensioners will be considered in the light of the outcome of these negotiations.
