Vol. 301 No. 5

Written Answers. - Maternity Leave.

466.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will state in detail in relation to each semi-State body associated with his Department, what arrangements, if any, exist for the provision of paid maternity leave for their employees; and, in the case of any which do not have such arrangements, the steps he proposes to take to see that such arrangements are made.

The only body associated with my Department which might be regarded as coming within the terms of the Deputy's question is the National Committee on Pilot Schemes to Combat Poverty. Paid maternity leave is allowed to women employed by the committee on the same basis as to women employed in the civil service, that is, 12 weeks maternity leave on full pay.
