Vol. 301 No. 5

Written Answers. - County Tipperary Farm.

479.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he is aware that there are a large number of small farmers who are in need of additional land in the Kilcash/Ballypatrick area of Clonmel, County Tipperary; and if he will request the Land Commission to acquire rapidly the Avonmore Co-operative farm in Ballypatrick, Clonmel in order to relieve congestion among small holders in that area.

The Land Commission have no proceedings for the acquisition of this estate but are having the matter examined. The examination will include an assessment of the land requirements of any deserving small-holders in the area. I need hardly remind the Deputy that determination of lands to be acquired is a matter which is reserved exclusively to the lay commissioners.
