asked the Minister for Education if he will furnish a table giving State expenditure on education broken down by first, second and third levels on a year by year basis from 1963-1964 to date; the percentage of total State expenditure on education allocated to each level year by year; and if he will furnish comparative data for other EEC countries.

asked the Minister for Education if he will furnish the information necessary to up-date Table 4.1 page 71, of the NESC Report Educational Expenditure in Ireland, using provisional or estimated figures for the years 1976 and 1977 if necessary; and if he will include first and second level expenditure on the same basis.

asked the Minister for Education if he will furnish the information necessary to up-date Table 5.4, page 81, and Table 5.5, page 83, of the NESC Report Educational Expenditure in Ireland, using provisional or estimated figures for the later years if necessary.

asked the Minister for Education if he will furnish the information necessary to up-date Table A, page 9, of the NESC Report Educational Expenditure in Ireland, using provisional or estimated figures for 1976 and 1977 if necessary; and if he will include third level expenditure on the same basis.

With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 486 to 489, inclusive, together. Figures of expenditure for the education services are prepared in the form set out in the Appropriation Accounts presented pursuant to section 7 of the Comptroller and Auditor General Act, 1923 (No. 1 of 1923). They are not available in the form specified in the questions for the period referred to. I have no function in relation to the compilation of statistics for other member states of the European Communities.
