Vol. 301 No. 6

Written Answers. - Unqualified Substitute Teachers.

551.

asked the Minister for Education the number of unqualified substitute teachers employed in national schools on the latest date for which complete figures are available; and if he will furnish a breakdown by length of employment in three months periods, namely less than three months, three to six months, and so on.

Substitutes are employed by the individual national teacher in respect of absences from illness and other approved courses. No records are kept in the Department in relation to individuals employed as substitutes and the data requested is not, therefore, available.
