Vol. 301 No. 7

Written Answers. - County Cork Factory.

344.

asked the Minister for Industry, Commerce and Energy if he is aware of the closing of a factory in Millstreet, County Cork; and if he will request the IDA to build an advance factory there, in view of the high rate of unemployment in the town and district.

I am aware that a liquidator has been appointed to a company in Millstreet. The Industrial Development Authority have been in contact with the liquidator and I understand that all possibilities of protecting the jobs of the employees of the company are being explored. I am informed that the IDA have no plans at present to construct an advance factory in Millstreet. The authority will keep the situation under review, however, and will continue to promote Millstreet for suitable industrial development.
