asked the Minister for Education (a) the total number of vocational school teachers; (b) the number of such teachers who have posts of responsibility; and (c) the total amount paid by way of extra remuneration to teachers with such posts.

According to information available to the Department of Education the total number of wholetime class III teachers employed in vocational schools as at 1st June, 1977, was 4,434, of whom 1,888 held posts of responsibility. The total estimated cost of the allowances payable in respect of such posts at that date was £1.1 million.
